Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstellen sind ein hochfrequentierter Bestandteil unseres täglichen Lebens sowohl im Privaten sowie im Arbeitsumfeld und der Medizin geworden. <p class="paragraph">Ziel des QSens-Clusters ist die nachhaltige wissenschaftliche, wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Standortstärkung mit einzigartigen Technologien und Knowhow. QHMI ist der Mensch-Maschine-Forschungsverbund im Cluster. An Hand eines Gehirn-Computer-Demonstrators und eines Muskel-Prothesen-Demonstrators wird eine erstmalige Miniaturisierung des neuartigen Sensorsystems gezeigt.</p>

<h2 class="paragraph"><span class="font-size-s font-weight-l">Die Miniaturisierung eines neuartigen diamantbasierten Quantensensors </span></h2>
<p class="paragraph">Im Verbund QHMI wird erstmalig diese neuartige Sensortechnologie für menschbezogene Anwendungen analysiert und demonstriert. Unterschieden wird hier eine Konfiguration für die Erfassung von Nervenaktivitäten am Gehirn und für Muskelaktivitäten am Arm. Die neu erforscht und entwickelten, hochempfindlichen Sensoren basieren auf Diamant.</p>

<p class="paragraph">Diese Magnetfeldtechnologie ermöglicht neu die Verwendung dieser empfindlichen Messtechnik unter Alltagsbedingungen, so dass keine abgeschirmte Laborumgebung mehr notwendig ist. Das erwartbar große Knowhow und wirtschaftliche Potential für Life-Science und Consumerprodukte wird durch die Forschungsexpertisen der Universität Stuttgart, der Hahn Schickard–Gesellschaft, der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft im engen Verbund mit den Technologieunternehmen Bosch, Q.ANT und Ottobock zusammen mit der Universitätsmedizin der Charité geprägt und regional in Querschnittsaktivitäten des Verbundes QSens verankert.</p>

Das wissenschaftliche Ziel des Projektes ist es, ein hochpräzises Messinstrument basierend auf Stickstofffehlstellen in Diamanten (NV-Zentren), welches die dreidimensionale Quantifizierung des Vektorfelds der magnetischen Flussdichte B und dessen räumlicher Ableitung mit höchster Präzision und hoher zeitlicher Auflösung ermöglicht, zu erforschen und laborprototypisch zu realisieren.

Die wissenschaftliche Forschung erfolgt unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Anforderungen an eine Integration in Magnetresonanz&nbsp;(MRT)- und Elektronenspinresonanz&nbsp;(ESR)-Tomographen, mit dem Ziel, typische Störgrößen (Drifts des statischen Magnetfelds mit der Temperatur (), physiologische Effekte (Atmung, Herzschlag: ), Schaltung von Gradienten (kHz-Bereich) und Hochfrequenzfeldern (MHz-Bereich)) des Vektorfelds dynamisch bis mindestens zur dritten Ordnung (16 Sensoren) zu quantifizieren und entsprechende Korrekturalgorithmen zu entwickeln.

<h1>Hintergrundinfo</h1>
Das globale Marktvolumen von Magnetresonanztomographen (MRTs) wird 2021 auf etwa 6 Mrd EUR geschätzt. MRT ist für viele diagnostische Fragestellungen die Methode der Wahl. In der Magnetresonanztomographie wird keine gewebeschädliche Strahlung verwendet und der exzellente Weichteilkontrast ermöglicht eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen in fast allen klinischen Bereichen. Ein wesentlicher Nachteil moderner MRTs resultiert aus der aufwendigen benötigten Kalibrierung der Geräte, die für die Qualität der Bilder ausschlaggebend ist, und die langen Aufnahmezeiten. Heute werden MRTs ab Werk mit einfachen klassischen Magnetfeldsensoren kalibriert. Wäre es möglich, die Magnetfelder auch bei laufendem Betrieb kontinuierlich zu messen, ließe sich die Bildqualität als auch die zeitliche Auflösung substantiell verbessern.

Mit dem Ziel der Entwicklung eines hochgenauen Quanten-Vektor-Magnetfeldsensors soll die Qualität von MRTs drastisch gesteigert werden. Unser Lösungsansatz beruht auf der pinken Tönung von Diamanten. Diese stammt von besonderen Verunreinigungen des Kristallgitters, die sich nach den Gesetzen der Quantenmechanik verhalten und hochempfindlich auf externe Magnetfelder reagieren. Das besondere an den Verunreinigungen im Diamant ist, dass externe Magnetfelder die Intensität der Tönung direkt beeinflussen. Mithilfe trickreicher quantenmechanischer Messsequenzen, ähnlich jenen, die in Prototypen von Quantencomputern zum Einsatz kommen, lassen sich auf diese Weise Magnetfelder sehr schnell und mit hoher Genauigkeit messen. Dies nutzen wir aus, um Magnetfelder von MRTs in Echtzeit zu kalibrieren. Wir wollen die verbesserte MRT Bildgebung nicht nur als Feature der nächsten Generation von MRT Geräten kommerzialisieren, sondern auch als Upgrade bereits installierter Systeme in Kliniken zum Einsatz bringen.

Im Zentrum steht die Entwicklung und Integration der Parawasserstoff-induzierten Polarisation über den Nuclear Overhauser Effect (PHIP-NOE), um die NMR-Signalstärke um bis zu das 100-Fache zu erhöhen. Ergänzend werden skalierbare On-Chip-NMR-Spektrometer zur gleichzeitigen Analyse mehrerer Proben implementiert – als Grundlage einer quantenverbesserten Hochdurchsatz-NMR-Plattform der nächsten Generation.Oberflächenbehandlungen optimiert, um zuverlässige, hochauflösende Messungen für die Materialwissenschaft zu ermöglichen.
