On 26 November 2025, ARENA2036 in Stuttgart became a meeting place for researchers, founders, and network partners who came together to discuss how scientific insights can find their way into market-ready innovations. The event, organized by the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research (ENI) in cooperation with UnternehmerTUM XPRENEURS, offered workshops, keynote talks, and numerous opportunities for exchange and networking. More than 80 guests attended, including aspiring founders, established researchers, and alumni of the Elements4Founding and XPRENEURS programs.
The event opened with a practice-oriented workshop led by Kathrin Lichius from Kinderleicht, who demonstrated how research ideas can be transformed into viable business models and highlighted the role that artificial intelligence can play in this process. This was followed by a guided tour of the ARENA2036 research campus, during which participants gained insights into current projects and the innovation infrastructure that supports young companies in their early stages.
Welcoming remarks by Prof. Peter Middendorf, Rector of the University of Stuttgart, and Helmut Schelling, co-founder of Vector Informatik, emphasized the importance of the interplay between research, entrepreneurship, and practical application. Project teams presented insights into ongoing initiatives, including the transition of Elements4Founding activities into the QCLUB‑2 program within the QSENS Cluster4Future—an important step toward continuing interdisciplinary entrepreneurship formats. In a panel discussion, founders and investors shared their experiences in transferring scientific ideas into successful startups. Afterwards, Fanny Giannou, CEO of Alithea Biotech, offered personal insights into the highs and lows of the founding journey in her keynote speech.
The event concluded with a joint dinner, during which lively discussions, new connections, and initial ideas for collaboration emerged. The event clearly demonstrated how essential long-term support and interdisciplinary collaboration are for translating scientific results into innovative applications—and left many participants feeling motivated to continue along this path.
